I Big Fat Cream Filled Heart Micheal Moore

Sicko Michael Moore, originally uploaded by cutup.

I just finished watching SICKO with JimmyEW. This movie was PHENOMENAL!! Its about the healthcare industry and insurance companies and the effect on the American People. If you watch it for no other reason that to hear the conversations Nixon had about private healthcare the DAY before he announced his new Health Care Plan, it will have been worth your time.

Che Guevara's daughter in Cuba said something that really struck me. She said the richer a country is and the more it produces, the better it should take care of its people. I liked that.

This movie made us cry, laugh and get angry. We now want to do something about it but sadly we are only two people. But you know what Margaret Mead says,“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever does”

Yes, I thank you too...I've also been wanting to see this. I'll be adding it to my Netflix account.

Tell me about it, I havent even seen this movie yet but I know first hand how horrible the system is. My insurance company is disputing all my procedures (probably totaling around $10,000 at this point) because "they cant be sure they are related to the car accident". WTF??? What a joke, I am 26 EVERYTHING is related to my car accident. I have to fight with them every couple of months just to get them to do what they are required by law to do!

I haven't seen the movie, nor have I seen any of his others. He bothers me. There's just something about HIM. I know nothing about his work to be honest with you. I feel like he's out to use America's problems for his personal gain. A pot stirrer. I could be completely wrong...but that's the feel I get from him. Sorry Sassy!

Understandable Ashlee, people feel that way. I think he's shining a light on the situation and to me that makes a big differnece. Sure, he might like the spot light, but oh well. I love him the same.

Jill, I feel for you.

And HB, you just told me that you spent THREE MONTHS trying to get your insuarance company to pay for your doctor bill. you said "I had to jump through hoops" so I think you would like this moive.

and the threat of Micheal Moore (not made by Micheal, but by some guy without his permission, pretty funny) going to one insurance company got the company to reconsider it's clients claim and pay for his daughter's procedure.

We did spend several months fighting the insurance company. The problem was the way the cardiologist coded the claim.

We figured it out and they paid.

Much better than becoming a socialist nation just so I don't have to make phone calls and fax forms.

Im choosing to stay out of this one. I am gonna be the passive one who just goes with the flow.

As you know, Sassy, I totally lean with your politics. I was a huge fan of Michael Moore, but I'm not certain that he doesn't embellish a little these days, and I wish he wouldn't, because we have enough horror stories that can be told straight on the issues he raises. I really, really wish everyone in this country had been required to see Fahrenheit 911 when it came out, though. What stunned me is just how much the Cheney, Bush and Saudi families have made financially from this war.

Hi Jen. I agree, I think he does go over board some times. In Sicko it wasn't until the very end, but I love him for drawing attention to the issues. I tried watching 911 and I couldn't get past the first 5 minutes without breaking down and weeping. It was just too hard for me to watch the death and destruction.

The night we invaded Afganastan (I think it was that night) I woke up crying from a dream of all these Afgahn people running to me to protect them. Men, women, children. And all I could do was cry and tell them I was sorry. It was so sad.

Ok, that was kind of off topic. Hope you're feeling better.
