QOTD: Sandwich Gen

Today's Quote:

"Always be nice to your children because they are the ones who will choose your rest home." - Phyllis Diller

What are your plans in old age? Who will take care of you. I know HB often worries about this, since Logan is an only child. I think she has this belief that Kiki and Boogs will be helping Logan whipe her senile butt. They might, but most likely they'll just meet him at the bar and buy him a beer afterwards.

What about your parents? Have you been faced with this decision? If you recall from this post, I got to be the child (of 8, mind you) that signed the paperwork to put my father in a home. Nice, huh. Turns out he seems to like it there, although we'd much rather have him home. But he's on a stubborn streak now and doesn't seem to want to come. What's a kid to do?

Ah...the sandwich generation.
What's that? You want to comment? Just click on the itty-bitty words below that say "Gimme Some Sugar". Can you see them? Good. We can't wait to chat with you.

Is your Dad still down here or back in Mi. TC was able to take care of her parents, both of them until the end. We agreed long ago that we would take care of both sets of parents. Sometimes that is hard to do.

Thanks for asking Wade. He is still in his nursing home down south. He likes his nurse, she takes good care of him, but he has decided he doesn't want to come back. At least I think he has, I've been contemplating bullying him to get him back here. But if he really doesn't want to be here, who am I to tell him he needs to come back.

It looks like he's at the end of his life, his artery is 90% blocked and they can't do anything about it. I fear he will die alone and that makes me sad. But I think I said before he always loved an Adventure and death is probably the last great adventure so I think he'll be ok in the end. At least I can hope. And that is all I can do.
