Let's Get Fit: Week We're-Almost-There, Yo.

Remember when I fell on account of not being able to judge my girth? I was working in Logan's bedroom and forgot that I'm not a size six, lost my balance and fell. Hard. Memba that?

I was horrified. I was in pain and I cried like a baby. Then I decided I was sick and tired of not taking good care of myself and I wasn't going to put up with it anymore.

Thus began (I just used "thus". My 8th grade English teacher would be so proud) our 8 Week Challenge.

We decided to start getting fit from the inside out. We have been exercising. We are choosing better foods. We have taken off the coats from our past and stopped believing we are still "that person".

Even when it got hard, when we slipped up, we have continued to work at improving our lives physically and emotionally. Even if we (and by "we", I mean "I") are 40 and it is just. so. much. harder because the scale will. not. move. We (I) push forward.

And now it's time to pat ourselves on the back for powering through five long weeks.

Sassy is going to get a massage. I bought some clothes for my NEW JOB! And now I'm going to go shoe shopping. Because who doesn't love shoes?

The company I'll be working for at my NEW JOB! has a very casual environment and I am kind of struggling with the shoe options. I'm going to choose some sandals of course, but I'm in Northern Michigan and it's still a bit chilly.

The obvious answer is for me to buy some flats. But it brings some very vivid 1980's flashbacks that I am afraid to repeat.

I had flats in every color and I wore a pair that matched my very brightly-colored shirt or sweater(with shoulder pads thank you) every day. I thought I looked really good with my tight-rolled jeans and pearl necklaces.

I consulted the expert(our niece Rachel)and she said,

"Get thee some flats"
.

Or she would have said that if these were the olden days in New England. Instead she said,

"Yeah. Go with the flats. But not those open toed ones. Because then your big toe will stick out and you'll look like an old lady".

Thank you Rachel.

Here are the ones I really like. And can I just say that shoes? They can be ridiculously expensive.

Those first one look like an 80's purse threw up on a shoe.

Congrats on the NEW JOB! Yay! I like the last two pairs. I have this completely tacky pair of avon wedge sandals, high, red "foam" with sequins. Tacky, tacky tacky. But I love them. I so want to wear them under my faculty robes for graduation tonight.

Guess what! I joined a gym and today I go in for my personal training appt to learn how to use the equipment properly.

Oooh, shoes. My first love. Have you checked out piperlime.com? Some g.o.r.g.e.o.u.s options. :)

Good for you Seester! I haven't had my massage yet, busy busy, but I joined WW on Wed! I'm really excited. I signed up for the 16 week pass and will be finished on my birthday.

Yay!!!! I so happy you got a new job!!!!

My workouts have been going great! My knee is actually feeling better during the work outs. I think I'm just getting old and this is part of it. The getting up at the butt crack of dawn is not to awful bad either.

I'm so happy for you - you got the job-as if there were any doubt!
Love the $200 pair of shoes - of course I do! But the others ain't so bad either.
Check out my new flats...both blogging shoes on the same day - maybe were twins or something! Anyway, the eight week challenge is three steps forward - two back. That still does equal one step forward , doesn't it?:) Baby steps for me, but movin' the right direction!

I really should invest in some cute flats, but I'm so not a shoe lover... actually, I just don't like wearing shoes. I like to buy them! :)

Congrats on the job and your goals. You seem to be doing great!

Yay for the new job! I'm so excited and happy for you! You must feel so relieved. :0)

I'm jealous you are going shoe shopping. I loves me some shoes. It's an addiction for me. :0)

Congrats on your new job!
I too love that $200 shoes but way too expensive! I am assuming they are very soft and comfortable. If it's not comfortable then it's not worth it.
Massage? Good for you! Massage works wonders :) Enjoy
Buy the way, thank you for the cute compliment you posted on my blog - made my day :)

Congratulations on the new job!

Cute shoes--all of them. Thank goodness the less expensive ones are cute too, because I couldn't spend $200 on a pair of shoes even if I had the money.

I can't wait for you to start your new job! I'm excited for you. I like that last two. Another thing about our department, we LOVE shoes.

Can't wait to see you on the 19th!

I am very envious of you new job and the casual dress code; especially after a discussion at work about out dress code policy. IT MAKES ME WANT TO SCREAM!!!! And, of course Rachel likes the first bunch of shoes - don't they cost like $200.00?
I think I might have crossed the line yesterday when purchasing some cute summer sandals. I need Rachel to keep me focused 'cuz I fear I bought "mom" shoes. I hope not.
Congrats on the job. I know you'll rock there and before you know it you'll own the place. But, only if you want to.

This blog rocks and thanks for visiting mine! I love those black and white flats, but yeah, wouldn't pay 165. Congrats on all of the life happenings :)

I was at the Tory Burch store in New York in November and wanted so badly to get me some of those darling flats......

But I couldn't bring myself to do it. Not on shoes. A purse, yes. But shoes, no?

Want something from Tory Burch for FREE though??

iGoogle just came out with new homepage themes and Tory Burch is one of them!

LOVE IT!

I'm thrilled to hear about your new job! YAY!!! And congrats on working your way fit, too. Is there a DSW or TJ Maxx up your way? They are wonderful for shoes...

Yeah, why are shoes so expensive? I would love to know the answer to that. Great shoe options, by the way. Seeing as how you helped me find my bathing suit for the summer last week, I think I'll look into some of the shoe options this week! ;) Congratulations on your new job!

Congrats on the new job. I do not qualify to comment on shoes, as long as you got shoes right? Well Miss TC knows what you mean cause that girls must have a million pairs. Sassy I like the Faith post. In fact that is how life really is, living by faith. Happiness is truly relying upon God for everything. I sure wish I could do it.

Congrats on the new job! =)

And shoes... *drool* It almost makes it tempting to try the getting fit thing just so I can reward myself with pretty things.

Meanwhile, I've seen very similar shoes to the $200 dollar ones - Chanel's new style, I seem to recall but at wholesale prices at the outlet malls. Admittedly this is in the land of Oz so not so helpful but if we have them, for sure you guys must too.
