Let's Get Fit: I Hold All the Answers

I am by nature a morning person. I love to get up with the birds and putter around the house while the coffee brews. Then I like to sit and enjoy my coffee while watching a 90210 rerun or reading the paper. That is my ideal morning.

Since I had Logan, things have changed. I'm a working mom, so when I get home in the evening I devote my attention to Logan until he goes to bed. Then I devote my attention to my husband until HE goes to bed. Then I am completely and blessedly alone.

I want to wallow in the peace and quiet of no one wanting a single, solitary thing from me. I can watch my favorite shows, focus on my current book, read my favorite blogs. Often I become so relaxed and happy all by my lonesome that I don't go to bed until 11:00 or 11:30 at night.

Which isn't bad. Except I can't fall asleep without watching a little bit of the news (who am I kidding? I'm usually watching something on BRAVO.) so that I can get completely into sleep mode.

Because I stayed up too late, I can't drag my tired butt out of bed as early as I'd like. But I eventually pull it together, get my kid dressed, give him breakfast and hop in the shower and get started on my day.

When I arrive home in the evening, I am a crab ass. There's just no other word for it. I am grumpy and tired and crabby. I snap at my poor husband and he'll respond with,

"That's OK. I know you're just really tired. Will you please start coming to bed earlier?"

How dare he, right? Seriously, how can you get mad at that? Not only does he have that one queer eye, but he is also the nicest man around. Not that I ever tell him, but whatevah.

After Sister Big told me I was a miserable sad-sack during our "come to Jesus" chat in March, I've been working on this whole Getting Fit From the Inside Out. I have made some great changes, implemented some new lifestyle routines, and I have started going to bed earlier.

Not every night. But more often than not. But here's the exciting thing I found.

Did you know that people who get more sleep, find it easier to lose weight?

Research also shows that people who get more sleep, have a better sex life. Uh-huh, it sho 'nuff does.

So, let's recap what we learned during this, our Sixth Week of Getting Fit From the Inside Out:

More Sleep = Weight Loss AND Great Sex.

You're welcome.

SInce I started my at the crack of dawn workouts, I have been going to bed earlier. Its because I am so dog-gone tired. :) I really am enjoying my workouts though. I just finished my third week today, and next week is my last week. I will have to sign up for another one.

I'm totally opposite...I AM NOT A MORNING PERSON...please don't talk to me before I've had my giant mug of coffee! O.K. - I've just had my coffee...life is grand...now where was I? going to bed earlier has really helped me, too - it just takes the edge off!
I went to WW and lost one pound (in two weeks)...I'll take it! Gotta get walking again, though.

Not morning here either. I've lost 2.2 lbs in the last week- I joined WW last week and I signed up for 16 weeks. I'm so ready to be rid of this.

We've been a lot more active in life too- we have been hiking and caching and all sorts of stuff. Things are good, but all I want is time. More time... where do I find it?

I'm not a morning person AT ALL. Never have been. I can barely drag my fanny out of bed to get my kid out the door for the bus. :0) I enjoy my quiet time at night too. No toddler running around messing up the house, nobody needing things from me, no Dora playing in the background. Sigh. It's beautiful!

Just what I need, another funny blog to read! Just found you from the Nester and I see we have Boomama in common too (she and I go to the same church!). Ya'll sound very funny and I'll have to come back & read more.

I'm not all that funny, but love all the yardsaling, thrifty things, so come and visit me sometime!

Thanks for the comment on my blog. No I do not think you are naive. That would be great if Jin is alive. Part of me thinks the 6 will spend next season and the season after trying to get back to the island to bring people home. Now, is that naive? :)

I am going to work on going to be earlier too! Funny 90210 comment, I am usually up for Saved By The Bell - LOL!

Okay, this whole weight watchers craze must be some kind of sign from God. I get plenty of sleep, theoretically, but my weight is causing sleep apnea, some I'm not really getting enough sleep, so I'm gaining more weight, which...the cycle continues. WW it is. Ugh.

I'm up at 4:30 with Ms. Valarie doing the bootcamp 3x a week. I can tell you I FEEL so much better and I love having my full hour before the kids up in the morning. However, sometimes I have nights like last night. Where I lay awake and wish that it was going to be Thursday so I could do another 'fro me to you... sigh. But occ. my brain just will not turn off! That makes for a LONG day. So my plan is to hit the bed before 8 tonight. :) Get sleep-have sex-be skinny-have more sex. Nice. :)

I am doing WW too. Funny. I lost 1.2 lbs my first week. Go me! I don't get enough sleep either, or enough time to myself. Blogging about that tonight. If I make it.

Have you seen Whoorl's latest blog post? I think you and her sister would be very good friends.

Okay. Your day sounds exactly like my day. I go to bed way too late, because I like a little alone time after the kids are in bed and hubs goes to bed. But, you are so right -- I am a crab in the morning. It's so hard to switch around the schedule, though. I think I just have to take little steps -- maybe move my bedtime back 15 to 30 minutes earlier every few days. Thanks for the reminder. This has been on my mind lately.
